Blending deep cultural heritage with a forward-thinking design approach, BASHARATYAN V has established a confident presence on the international fashion arena. Founded in 2010 in London by talented designer Veronica Basharatyan, the brand reflects personal aesthetic and serves as a refined dialogue between East and West.
A graduate of both the London College of Fashion and Istituto Marangoni in Milan, Veronica developed her own distinctive design language, grounded in craftsmanship and cultural narratives. One of the brand’s signature innovations is the “ribbon knit” technique — a unique form of tape knitting that has received recognition from industry insiders and clients alike.
BASHARATYAN V’s debut prêt-à-porter collection featured 65 looks and was inspired by the role of women in Eastern cultures, with a focus on Iran. Each garment was adorned with hand-drawn Persian calligraphy featuring verses by Saadi and Hafez, as well as lyrics from traditional Iranian songs — imbuing each piece with depth, poetry, and storytelling.
A core concept behind the brand is the exploration of global cultures through fashion. Each collection is dedicated to a specific country — from Iceland and Italy to France, Mexico, Armenia, and Japan — reinterpreting traditional elements into modern silhouettes, textures, and details.
After winning the national design competition “Velvet Seasons” in Sochi — founded by legendary Russian couturier Vyacheslav Zaitsev — Veronica Basharatyan was invited to present her collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia in Autumn 2011. In 2012, with the support of the Italian Consulate, BASHARATYAN V was included in the official Milan Fashion Week (MILANO MODA DONNA) schedule under the “New Upcoming Designer” category. From 2013 to 2020, the brand showcased multiple collections at London Fashion Week, further cementing its international status.
All BASHARATYAN V pieces are produced in the United Kingdom, crafted from natural materials such as silk, wool, and cashmere. Hardware and trims are custom-branded and sourced directly from Italy.
The brand’s refined, timeless aesthetic has attracted an international celebrity clientele, including Jessie J, Nicole Scherzinger, Ornella Muti, Noelle Reno, and Mel B. Notably, Barbara Streisand commissioned a one-of-a-kind chiffon “coat” — a hand-crafted piece made from over 50 meters of ultra-fine English silk.
The label has been consistently featured in such publications such as Vogue Italia, ELLE UK, Harper’s Bazaar UK & Russia, InStyle Russia, and others.
